Küçük Çamlıca Kiosks and Landscaping

| 1998 | Üsküdar

The facilities in this grove were built in the traditional and present-day stylised forms of the forgotten Turkish civil architecture and garden architecture. The project was designed with three kiosks and a terraced Turkish garden on Küçükçamlıca hill and, on the road leading up to the hill, a kiosk together with an artificial pond, waterfall and stream operating on a recirculating system.

The Cihannüma Kiosk at the summit is in the 17th-century style, and the Topkapı Kiosk, connected to it by a two-arched portico, is in the 18th-century style. On the other side of the courtyard stands the Sofa Kiosk, a contemporary interpretation of these styles. The Turkish garden, with its arbour, the water channel linking the pool to the courtyard and its pergolas, is a specimen of the tradition. The Water Kiosk on the road up the hill, alluding to the relationship between water and building in our tradition, creates a focal point with the waterfall that pours from the pond and flows down the slope.
