Abu Ayyub al-Ansari Tomb Restoration

Abu Ayyub al-Ansari Tomb Restoration

| 2012 | Eyüp

Without hesitation, in Istanbul’s most important historical building, in the beginning of the work, the tomb would open in 6-7 months via a simple restoration without taking any tile off. The situation of the building which is hidden under tiles revealed that the tomb was exposed to great danger and an essential restoration work should be undertaken. The roof of the visiting area was reinforced by the 300 years old wooden base system which was decayed, deformed and became bug-infested. By suspending the whole roof, the decayed wooden posts has been changed and the walls almost completely rebuilt by keeping the durable pieces and gently removing 7678 tiles on the walls.
